A couple of days ago, I got a chance to see Spider-Man: Homecoming! This is by far, my favourite cinematic Spider-Man, and I’ll review it later on this week, but there is one thing that I need to talk about. Zendaya.
Now, let’s be honest I’ve got a mild crush on Zendaya and seeing her in Homecoming only made my nerdy little heart beat all the faster. I thought she was going to play the role of Mary-Jane when the casting was first announced. When we found out her name was Michelle it still didn’t stop the rumours. Was she Vulture’s daughter? Was she secretly Mary-Jane?
Now that the movie is in theaters we know that Michelle Jones is no one from the Marvel Universe. The cynical, slightly rude and super smart classmate of Peter Parker is the first to suspect Peter (outside of Ned).
Despite not being Mary-Jane, Michelle’s nickame is “M.J.” and from what I saw she will probably discover Peter’s secret. She claims to be “a very observant person”, had the most interaction with the costume, and her expression dashes off to meet Happy Hogan in the bathroom at the end of the film. If anything, she’ll be the next to find out!
In theaters now, Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.
